GD2 welcomes questions of all kinds. If you do not find an answer to your question in our FAQ, please contact us.

GENERAL FAQ’s

When is GD2 open?

The club is open to members and their guests every Thursday night from 7:00 PM until 11:00PM, every Friday and Saturday night from 8:00 PM until 2:00 AM, and every Sunday night from 7:00 PM until 11:00 PM.

GD2 also hosts a number of free social and educational events that are open to non-members, typically on weekend afternoons and evenings. Please check our calendar for information about specific events.

Do I need an ID to enter GD2?

Yes, everyone who enters GD2 is always required to show a valid, government issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state ID card, or passport.

Do I need to be a member to come to GD2?

The answer depends on the type of event you would like to attend.

Non-member events
You do NOT need to be a member to attend GD2’s free educational and social events. However, we ask that everyone who attends non-member events RSVP. Non-members are also required to sign up for free Visitor status.

Members-only events
To attend a members-only party, you must be a member or the invited guest of a member. There are no exceptions.

All events at which play is permitted are private and members-only by legal and regulatory necessity and to provide important privacy and legal protections for attendees and GD2.

Can I attend GD2 as a guest of the club?

No. For GD2 to remain legal and to provide important legal and privacy protections to attendees, all guests must be invited by individual members and may not attend as guests of the club at large.

Are there age restrictions at GD2?

Everyone who enters must be at least 18 years of age with a valid, government issued ID.  GD2 has no upper age limit. We have members from age 18 to 88, and we welcome all adults, regardless of age.

What about TNGC events? Don’t they have an age limit?

Chicago-based  TNGC, which is a group specifically for people 18-35 and their partners, hosts a once a month educational event at GD2 that is open only to people 18-35 and their partners.

All other events at GD2 are open to everyone 18+, including the bimonthly party at GD2 hosted by TNGC.

May I take pictures, video or record audio at the club?

No. Photographs and recording of any kind are prohibited without express permission of and direct supervision by GD2 staff.

Anyone who violates our photography/recording policy will have their recording devices confiscated and will be removed from the club immediately.

We also pursue legal action against anyone using any media to violate our confidentiality agreement.

May I use a cell phone, smart watch, etc. at the club?

Use of cell phones, smart watches, and similar devices of any kind — including something as simple as checking to see whether you have received a text message — is prohibited except in the designated cell phone area.

Cell phones, smart watches, and similar devices must be in your pocket or in your bag at all times unless you are in the designated cell phone area. When not in use, all cell phones, smart watches, and similar devices are required to be turned off or set to silent.

Is GD2 wheelchair accessible?

We are very sad to say that our space is not currently wheelchair accessible, and will most likely be difficult for someone with mobility issues to access.  We are at the top of three flights of stairs in a vintage walk-up building.  Once you are inside the space, the majority of our equipment and all common-space facilities like bathrooms, bar and coat closet are on one level.  We do have two play-stations that are raised on a dais, but the equipment on those can be easily moved by staff if requested.

FAQ’S FROM NEWCOMERS

Where do I start?

Before visiting GD2 for the first time – whether as a member, a guest of a member, or as a visitor –  GD2 strongly recommends that everyone new to GD2:

  1. Attend a Newcomers Social or Intro to Kink educational event.
  2.  Carefully review GD2’s club rules and other policies.

These events and policies provide a great introduction to GD2. They also are an important first step in becoming not only part of a community but also part of an ongoing dialogue about what it means to keep kink inclusive, respectful, and safe.

Whether you attend GD2 as a member or as a non-member visitor, it is your responsibility to understand what you can expect from GD2 and what GD2 expects of you.

What do I wear?

We recommend wearing something that makes you feel attractive, confident and comfortable so that you can focus on just being yourself.

Non-member events
At non-member events  attire must be street legal. Aside from being street legal it is entirely up to you. Some people dress to impress, other in understated fetish wear, and some go casual and comfortable.

Members-only events
At members only events, attire must be street legal only until you enter GD2. Once you enter GD2, you can wear anything — and as much or as little — as you like.

What is expected of me?

Other than abiding by GD2’s policies, all that is expected of people who come to GD2 is that they be open-minded and considerate and respectful toward others.

You are never expected to participate in anything other than what you choose to participate in.

I’m new and very nervous about going to a club where I won’t know anyone. What should I do?

First, take a deep breath. Everyone is nervous when they are new, and it is completely normal.

When you arrive, let a staff member or volunteer know you are new. Staff and volunteers will be happy to introduce you to people and do everything we can to put you at ease.

We also encourage you to consider letting other members know you are new. It can be a great conversation starter so you can start getting to know other members and they can start getting to know you.

Everyone has been new and nervous at some point, and our staff and members pride ourselves on being friendly and welcoming.

Is it OK to come alone?

Yes, and many people do. GD2 is a great place to meet people, so the more you come to the club the more people you’ll meet. Before you know it, you’ll be eager to get to the club to see familiar faces and spend time with friends.

Can I bring friends?

Yes! We love when people share GD2 with friends.

If you want to bring friends to a non-member event, just make sure they have signed up for Visitor status and that they RSVP.

If you want to bring friends to a members-only event, you must have a Regular or Platinum membership. If you are a Regular member and do not have any guest passes remaining you can upgrade to Platinum membership for 30 days.

MEMBERSHIP FAQ’s

Can I become a member when I arrive and stay for the night?

No. For legal and regulatory reasons, we are prohibited from processing memberships at the door for immediate approval.

Once you apply for membership, your membership will become active the next calendar day.

So plan ahead, join up, and don’t miss all the fun!

How will I know you have received and processed my application?

Once you apply for membership or Visitor status, you will see a notice on your screen that your application has been received and you will receive a confirmation email.

If you submitted an application and have not received a confirmation email within 12 hours, please check your spam folder first, and then let us know as soon as possible.

What is included in my confirmation email?

Your confirmation email includes your membership  or visitor number, GD2’s address, and other information you need to visit GD2 as a member for the first time.

The email also provides links to our membership manual and GD2’s policies, which contain important information about GD2, such as the privileges of membership, basic etiquette and rules, and guidelines for confidentiality and safety.

Once I am a member, do I need to bring my ID?

Yes. Everyone who enters GD2 is always required to present a valid, government issued photo ID, such as a state ID, driver’s license, or passport.

Once I am a member, do I need to bring my membership card to get in?

No. GD2 no longer provides or requires membership cards.

All you need is a valid, government issued photo ID, such as a state ID, driver’s license, or passport.

If I am a member, can I bring a guest with me to a members only event?

The answer depends on the type of membership you have. You can find detailed information about membership  on our membership page and about bringing guests in our guest policy

To summarize:.

Trial members are not permitted to bring guests to GD2.

Regular members may bring 2 guests per month.

Platinum members may bring 1 guest  on every visit to GD2 and up to 6 additional guests per month.

Why are members limited to a certain number of guests?

Members are only able to bring a limited number of guests so that GD2 continues to be legally recognized as private and members only, which is required for us to remain legal. Any member bringing more than a handful of guests would put GD2’s status as a private, members-only club in jeopardy and put attendees and the club at risk.

Are there any hidden or additional charges I must pay when I attend?

No. Trial membership dues are billed once, and Trial memberships end automatically after 30 days. They do not auto-renew.

Regular and Platinum membership dues are billed monthly (on the same date as when you joined) but can be canceled at any time.

Membership dues are the only charges for attending GD2. There are no other charges — no entrance fees, cover charges, charges for food and beverages, etc.

Do I have to sign up for 3 months / 6 months / 12 months at a time?

No. Our members remain members of GD2 because they want to, not because they have to.

GD2’s Regular and Platinum memberships are on a month to month basis. There is no requirement to maintain a membership for any specified length of time.

If I am already a member, can I just pay my membership dues at the club?

Yes, but when paying at the club, membership dues must always be paid in advance.

How do I cancel my membership?

Membership may be canceled at any time by contacting us with your full name and membership number and saying when you would like to cancel. Notice of cancellation is effective upon receipt, and your cancellation will be confirmed via email.

Please note that when a former Regular or a former Platinum member re-joins GD2 there is a reinstatement fee of $50.

Why is there a $50 reinstatement fee for re-joining GD2?

When a former Regular or Platinum member re-joins GD2, a $50 reinstatement fee is assessed as a regulatory compliance measure to ensure that GD2 maintains its legally recognized status as private, members-only, nonprofit club, each which is essential for keeping GD2 a safe and secure place for you, our attendees, and our communities.
